Season 1, Episode 1

You’re listening to Life in the Treehouse Podcast, Ep 1

Hey!
I’m Suz, host of Life in the Treehouse .
I’m a wife, mom, & a business woman. I love going to the Farmers Market, am a huge fan of snuggling, and an owner of three adorable rescue 🐕dogs. In my spare time, I’m a reader📚, photographer📷, writer📖, coffee☕️ connoisseur, world 🛫traveler, Human Design dabbler, and now podcast host.

Since I can remember, I’ve always felt like a misfit who didn’t belong. Despite not feeling like I fit in, I’ve always been driven, ambitious, and an overachiever, with a ravenous hunger for knowledge and a personal calling to share information with those who need it most.

In college, this curiosity translated into a desire to understand the human mind by studying Psychology. After college, this transformed first into shaping the youngest of minds as a preschool Educator and later, my curiosity became a way of helping me uncover what people really wanted in a haven 🏘they would soon call home.

In my mid 20’s, I started realizing that I was not ‘normal’ in terms of what society expected of me. I was supposed to only like boys, get married, have a house with a white picket fence and 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦1.2 kids ~ I did the American dream. I followed societal norms, yet they never felt right to me.

Perhaps you, too, tend to dismiss your successes or are afraid to go after what you truly want in life? I can relate.

In 1990, my ten year marriage, to a fairly conservative man, came to an end. The Universe had my back though and blessed me with someone who loves me for who I am. I have discovered that Nine to five jobs are not my cup of tea. I like to march to the beat of my own drum and stepping outside of the traditional job market gave me the freedom to focus on my own passions on a schedule that worked for my family, not a boss. We made the intentional choice for me to be a stay-at-home mom for the benefit of our children.
As a result, I fell naturally into the role of household management. While keeping multiple homes running like well-oiled machines, I had us working towards becoming debt-free and living a life of abundance.

Life in my 40’s started to get fun! I made new friends and found causes that were more in-line with my beliefs. Also, I went back to my first love: improving my health, wellness, and life, which allowed me to then teach others, using the same tools I used, to improve theirs.

In this podcast, I’m going to share with you my thoughts on how we can eliminate lifestyle diseases (T2 Diabetes), my take and experiences on middle sexuality and ethical non-monogamy, as well as how sad it makes me that many people feel as though they are not enough and how I want to help them feel happy and whole,

One example is how I improved my health by letting go of the Standard American Diet for a new way of eating, and I got RESULTS! 🎉 Aches and pains disappeared, my cholesterol improved, my energy doubled, perimenopausal symptoms vanished, arthritis discomfort went away, I felt younger, and people I used to see often didn’t even recognize me!

This is why I became a certified Master health and life coach, and now why I’ve started this podcast. My goal is to help people understand how every piece of our lives is interconnected ~ from food and health, love and relationships, family, money, your career, to Spirituality. It’s never too early or too late to make a change. After all, I was 12 when I first subscribed to “Prevention Magazine”, and 50 when I finished my certifications and turned my passions for health and helping others into my new craft.
Life in the Treehouse is an extension of that labor of love. I’ll share information and recommendations with you, answer your questions, and provide a glimpse inside the lives of a polyamorous family of misfits raising teenagers, whilst navigating our health and wellness, unlearning societal norms, engaging in activism, and lavishing affection on our three devoted rescue dogs, all while living in our treehouse on the side of a mountain.

Some of my gifts lie in problem solving, pushing people past their self-imposed limits, and sharing my knowledge. I am resourceful with access to incredible resources. Also, as Dave Ramsey likes to say, I’m great at telling money where to go! 😀

If you’ve ever felt like you’re not good enough, I hear you. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong, this might be the place for you. 🙂 If you’ve ever struggled to see how remarkable you are, I hope you’ll stick around and find out. 😊

We’re going to have a blast 🧨 busting myths, along with my personal favorite activities: bucking🦌the status quo, and uncovering beliefs that are no longer serving us!
