How it all started

Since I was young, I’ve always been into health & wellness and had an interest in what makes people tick.

Reading Prevention Magazine as a teen

As a young teen, I started reading “Prevention Magazine”.

Through reading, watching the news, and much later, social media, I continued my interest in health and wellness as well as personal development.  College allowed me to deep dive into how people behave and what makes them tick.

I’ve always been a serial learner ~ taking classes, attending webinars, and going to conferences.  

Making money doing what I love

I was listening to a Tony Robbins Podcast, on my way to a personal development conference, when they started talking about health coaches.  My ears perked up. I can turn my hobby into a way of living and make money doing it? 

The problem? Can I go back to school while taking care of three households, a young adult, two teenagers, two hubbies, all while running a small business, in the midst of starting a non-profit, and being in charge of a local not-for-profit?

How can I make this happen?

We gathered our thoughts, as the tribe tends to do, and committed to making this work.  I never looked back! We made sure laundry was done, bills were paid, everyone got to where they needed to be, were fed, clothed, had snuggles, and laughs.  

One by one, classes were attended, lessons were learned, and all was good.

Homework happened

While I was doing that, I was constantly on the look-out for pre-diabetes and diabetes tips, and fervently discovered new studies regarding sugar, seed oils, stress management, processed foods, keto, meditation, low carb, intermittent fasting, connection and community, energy work, Human Design, and even more personal growth insights. I needed a platform to organize my thoughts.

I love writing and sharing my thoughts online and this was no exception ?

Graduated with certifications in health coaching, life coaching, plus a Holistic MBA

Back in the day, in 1990, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University.  Now, fast forward to today, I have these other certifications from the Health Coach Institute.

Health, wellness, personal growth, and living life abundantly are my life. They are my jam!

I learned a ton about health and wellness from HCI – and am slowly applying the many holistic principles I learned there in my blog and business today.

As weeks passed, my health improved… I took on multiple 1:1 clients.

What started out as a hobby turned into something more defined and expanding.  I had cracked the code to my own health and wellness.  I was getting strong, toned, and fit. Fat was melting off my body like butter.  My aches and pains were gone; my joints no longer hurt.  My mood swings and brain fog were now a thing of the past. What few Peri-menopausal symptoms I had diminished, and the arthritis symptoms are nearly undetectable. Plus, I weighed less. I’ve had to buy smaller sizes and my clothes continue to get looser.  My endurance is great ?and I’ve gained muscle. Typically, I eat two meals a day and can now fast 20-24 hours or longer. My teeth and gum health are stable while cholesterol and gallbladder health have improved. I can even sleep 7 hours or more!  

Before I knew it, folks started asking me for advice on how I lost weight and what they can do to improve their way of life.

I took on several individual clients, successfully helping them to exponentially increase their energy, lose weight, manage their stress better, lower their blood pressure, lower their A1C, practice good sleep hygiene, eliminate their aches and pains, and achieve their goals.  

Today, I mostly focus on 1:1 coaching, group coaching, workshops, and developing signature courses.

So, what do I do? Well, health, wellness, personal growth, and living life abundantly are my jam.

I pore over a ton of science regularly, try things out, and share what has worked for me and my clients to you in a relaxed, easily-digested fashion.

Let me tell you ~ I read and study many of the new scientific findings, articles, books, blog posts,  – and that’s what I share with you. My Twitter feed is full of this stuff each and every day!

I have spent thousands of hours researching the latest findings and this number grows every single day.

Helping you pursue your goals and obtaining the abundant life you deserve is what I’m all about.

Hear me out. This journey towards health and wellness, plus creating my own life of abundance, is CHALLENGING!

Health and wellness and living a life of abundance isn’t for the faint of heart.

If you are looking for something easy to do… you can settle as a sheeple. There’s lots of those because it’s easy to be one – no effort, no risk, no money, and no frustration required.

The thing is, it isn’t as easy as everyone makes it out to be.

Viewing my “successes” in a list like that, it may seem like it’s all sunshine and roses, but that’s not the full picture.

My first true health breakthrough, in years, didn’t happen quickly.

In fact, I spent five and a half years as a Vegetarian only to see no discernible improvement to my health. It is important to mention that I abided by the government’s guidelines, the Food Pyramid, and My Clean Plate back then.  Each week, I would spend four hours on the Greenway doing what I could to increase my HDL, lose weight, and improve my triglycerides.

I’ve spent countless nights of frustration trying to figure stuff out. There were days that ended in tears and the occasional bout of “What else can I do?”

Because of my perfectionism (which I’m learning to let go of), I’ve spent weeks logging my food in a journal, trying to create an eating plan that worked for me.

Despite my best efforts, I wasn’t losing anymore weight. My doctor was fussing at me to move my body more, my cholesterol was not where it needed to be, it hurt to walk, I was tired all the time, and I didn’t like how I looked in the mirror.

The list goes on…

If you’re looking for something easy you should probably try something else.

Most folks in my community come to me wanting to lose weight, have more energy, or to have financial and time freedom.

You want to get paid what you’re worth doing the work you love.

You want to spend more time with the people you love.

You want to travel the world.

And you know that building an abundant, thriving life will take you there. 

I’ve spent years honing my craft, and I want to help you feel empowered.

The techniques I teach are tried-and-tested strategies based on solid scientific evidence and transformational practices I’ve accumulated over the last several years.

These are the same strategies I use for my own habits and beliefs, and to help the people in my community (across my email list and social media platforms).

Now’s a good time to gift you with one of my favorite mantras: Baby steps. Small hinges swing big doors.

We all know that taking care of our health and wellbeing is fundamental in living the life we desire. We’ve seen people do it.

If we don’t let our fear get in the way, it’s only a matter of time before it works. This “go be great” mentality has kept me sane and my tribe thriving.

I’m more than just words on your screen…

I’m a wife, mom to three young adults, plus an advocate for the environment.  A coffee addict, rum connoisseur, and a hardcore dark chocolate lover.  

In 2013, I became an orphan, losing both my mom and dad, less than six months apart.  

Taking care of my Treehouse Tribe is the greatest motivation to get my backside out of bed every morning and make dinero.  We are a family of six; five of us living in a treehouse on the side of a mountain. 

I love traveling. Life is full of adventure, laughing out loud, eating new foods, snuggles, looking at the stars, and exploring the world, its cultures, and all its beauty!

In fact, I (at the time of this writing) was on holiday in Spain for a couple of weeks traveling around Barcelona and Mallorca (I live in the United States).
